Katja Aufwerber helps shape Acute for Sweden
Katja Aufwerber joined Vitec Acute at an exciting time as the company continues to strengthen its presence in Sweden. Combining healthcare technology knowledge, user experience thinking and software development, she helps develop Acute for the Swedish market.
Healthcare systems, regulations and working practices vary between countries, which means healthcare software cannot simply be transferred from one market to another. As a new Developer at Vitec Acute, Katja Aufwerber helps adapt Acute to the needs of Swedish healthcare organisations by combining local market insight with healthcare technology expertise.
– My role is about understanding the needs of the Swedish market and defining how Acute should work locally. From there, I help translate those requirements into practical product development.
Bridging Finnish expertise and Swedish healthcare needs
For Katja, one particularly interesting aspect of the Swedish healthcare market is the ongoing shift towards new European standards. While adapting healthcare systems to new requirements creates challenges, it also presents opportunities to develop more modern and user-friendly solutions and stand out in a changing market.
– Development work done for Sweden can also create value beyond the Swedish market. Ideas related to usability, interfaces and workflows may benefit users in both Sweden and Finland.
The work comes with its own complexities. Healthcare software must meet strict requirements related to patient information, data protection and system integrations while remaining practical and easy to use for healthcare professionals.
– Powerful functionality is most valuable when users can understand and use it intuitively.
Making complex systems easier to use
User experience is one of Katja’s core strengths. She focuses on making complex healthcare software straightforward to use without compromising functionality. According to Katja, healthcare professionals want the same fundamentals everywhere: reliable systems that support high-quality patient care.
– Reliability comes first, but systems must also help users work efficiently. The best solutions support everyday workflows, reduce unnecessary clicks and make documentation easier to manage.
Katja sees flexibility as one of Acute's strengths also in the Swedish market. Instead of forcing customers into a single setup, Acute allows organisations to combine a core solution with a wide range of integrations and build a system that fits their local requirements and specific needs. This gives healthcare providers more freedom to create an environment that supports the way they work.
Building the future together
Looking back on her first months at Vitec Acute, Katja highlights the supportive culture.
– One of the most rewarding aspects of the role is helping shape something new while working alongside people who are eager to support each other and share their expertise.
As Vitec Acute continues to grow in Sweden, Katja looks forward to contributing to Acute’s development by combining strong functionality with an intuitive user experience for healthcare professionals.
